I can see clearly now

I remembered that ClearType isn’t switched on by default on a new pc.  ClearType is this method of smoothing the edges of fonts, and it makes small text especially look much nicer on the screen.  It doesn’t affect the way it’s printed, but printing is much higher resolution anyway, so no problems there.  I have no idea why this is.  It’s sort of like saying “here’s your new car, but we won’t give you the radio unless you specifically ask for it.”.  Anyway, I switched it on, and suddenly everything’s nice again.  I recommend you do the same.

To enable ClearType, right-click on the desktop, and choose Properties from the list (at the bottom).  From the window that appears, choose the Appearance tab at the top.  Click on the Effects button.  From the window that appears, change the dropdown from Standard to ClearType.  OK, OK, you’re done!  Hopefully this site looks nicer now?!
